My name is Adrian Marnewick.
I’m a Cape Town-based entrepreneur and business owner with a specific interest in online businesses. I’ve co-founded two companies, Learning Lab Apps and eCommerce Lab. Both are bootstrapped (tech talk for “self-funded”), profitable and operated by a remote team of employees working from all over the world.
While running my companies, I also help other entrepreneurs and startups through business coaching and mentorship.
I’m a passionate believer in the future of ecommerce and SaaS businesses in South Africa, and I’m always on the lookout for like-minded companies, startups and entrepreneurs to partner and share knowledge.

My Life & Education
I’m a redeemed Christian.
For fun, I sing as a baritone-tenor in the Tygerberg Men’s Choir and Ivan Rebroff is my hero.
In my spare-time I volunteer as a firefighter and medic for the Volunteer Wildfire Services and the City of Cape Town Disaster Risk Management. I’ve been doing this for the past 10 years. I believe that giving back to my community through volunteering as a fire fighter is my calling. I previously served as the Marketing & Communications Director, and later the Training Director for the Volunteer Wildfire Services, but now I’m just a regular fire fighter and get a real kick out of driving the big red fire engines and flying in our awesome helicopters.
As a hobby I keep bonsai and grow aquaponic fish and vegetables. In the future I’d like to start a commercial aquaponics farm because I believe it’s a sustainable source of organic food. However, I am not a hippie.
Sport? Not really my thing. I enjoy chess (if that counts as a sport?). But I do love watching my son’s junior soccer matches and swimming galas. He is a real champ.
I love reading, primarily criminology, thrillers/horrors, and then of course plenty of business books.
Anything to do with entrepreneurship and ecommerce startups attracts my attention. I’ve studied Business Management through the University of Stellenbosch and Louis Group Business Academy, as well as Project Management through the University of Cape Town Graduate Business School and GetSmarter.
I believe in life-long learning and I continuously stay up-to-date on the latest design and marketing trends. In 2007 I was one of the first few graduates of the Quirk eMarketing course and the things I learned have shaped the way I approach ecommerce to this day.
